With the arrival of 2016, a large number of new regulations have been implemented, and the situation of plasticizers in China is grim. The new national standard for children's toys was officially implemented on January 1, 2016, and the market share of traditional plasticizers is continuing to shrink.

The plasticizers commonly used in China are DOP (dioctyl phthalate), DBP (dibutyl phthalate), DINP (diisononyl phthalate), DOTP (dioctyl terephthalate) and so on. According to the online understanding of engineering plastics, plastic products containing a large proportion of plasticizers are mainly food packaging and toys, phthalate esters in the proportion of about 28%. The research shows that because of the different understanding of the hazards of plastics products containing plasticizers, the scope and extent of their approved influence are also different, so the restrictions on the use of plasticizers are different in different countries.

In recent years, the governments of the United States, the European Union, and some other countries and regions are constantly formulating and revising their existing plastic product standards and relevant laws and regulations, which has undoubtedly raised the threshold for the export of plastic products in China. So as to cause the related chemical industry difficult to estimate the direct economic losses.

In China, the General Administration of quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine (AQSIQ) and the National Standards Commission recently approved the release of four new national standards for children's toys, GB6675-2014 "Toy Safety". The new standards are more comprehensive and strict in the protection of children, adding requirements for six plasticizers, sounds, magnets and magnetic components, flammability, and broadening the scope of control of harmful substances. Engineering Plastics online learned that the new standards will come into effect on January 1, 2016. The limited value of the six plasticizers should not exceed 0.1%. The limit is equivalent to existing EU rules.

For a long time, DOP and DBP have been the main plasticizers in China. However, with the improvement of testing standards and testing methods in Europe, America and China, the market share of traditional plasticizers has been reduced year by year in recent years. Most enterprises transform traditional plasticizers and develop new plasticizers. With the rapid growth of market demand for environmental friendly plasticizers, increasing investment in science and technology and developing non-toxic green plasticizers have become the key to sustainable development of the industry.
